A native of Southeastern Louisiana, Dr. Sherman completed his medical degree and residency in orthopedic surgery from Louisiana State University in New Orleans. He went on to Harvard to complete a fellowship in adult reconstructive surgery and focuses his practice on hip and knee replacements as well as fractures involving these joints. He performs the new minimally invasive direct anterior hip replacement surgery and advanced revision hip procedures. He performs total and partial knee replacements, re-alignment procedures, and advanced revision knee surgery.
He has received numerous awards for surgical excellence including intern of the year and multiple resident of the year awards, and is Chief of Arthroplasty in the Louisiana State University Department of Orthopedic Surgery. He also is the Director Of LSU’s annual national arthroplasty course teaching other surgeons the latest techniques in orthopedic surgery. He is the current Chief of Orthopedic Surgery at East Jefferson General Hospital.
He is the current chief orthopedic surgeon for the New Orleans Zephyrs, the AAA affiliate of the Florida Marlins Major League Baseball team, and has served in this position since 2012. He served as the director of the MLB umpire services from 2012-2013, and has treated high profile members of the NFL and PGA Tour. Most importantly, he is dedicated to providing the right solution for your injury or chronic joint pain.
Today, he stands as one of our region’s most influential orthopedists serving on national panels dedicated to teaching and research.
