Charles P. Murphy, M.D.

Dr. Murphy is the Director of the Orthopedic Center as well as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at LSU Medical Center. He graduated from LSU Medical School in 1982, completed an Orthopedic Surgery residency at LSU and a fellowship at Technical University in Munich, Germany. Dr. Murphy is a board certified orthopedic surgeon and is highly trained in the evaluation and treatment of musculoskeletal problems involving the extremities as well as sports medicine. Dr. Murphy says, “The three of us work together as a team so it’s like having a second and third doctors' opinion in just one place.” Dr. Murphy was selected as one of New Orleans' top doctors by New Orleans Magazine, and has been honored with a Distinguished Service Award from the Orthopaedic Surgery Department of LSU.

Thomas R. Lyons, M.D.

Dr. Lyons graduated from Tulane University School of Medicine in 1993 and completed a residency in orthopedic surgery at Tulane in 1998. He received the William F. Sherman award for outstanding first-year resident in 1995. Dr. Lyons is also a fellowship trained and board certified orthopedic surgeon. He specializes in minimally invasive arthroscopic shoulder procedures as well as arthroscopic management of knee and elbow problems. “Patient input is number one with us”, says Dr. Lyons. “Answering questions and educating patients is a big part of what we do.” Dr. Lyons is also a Clinical Assistant Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at Tulane.

Luis M. Espinoza, M.D.

Dr. Espinoza is a fellowship trained and double board certified in Orthopedic Surgery and Sports Medicine. Dr. Espinoza graduated from LSU Medical School in 1997, followed by his residency at the LSU Orthopaedic Department , and fellowship training at the University of California San Diego. According to Dr. Espinoza, “I try to cater to the convenience of each patient. Our team approach gives us a unique ability to maintain close contact with our patients throughout the entire healing process to ensure the best possible outcome." Dr. Espinoza puts his unique affiliation as the chief orthopaedic consultant with the New Orleans Zephyrs to good practice with each patient’s sports injury he comes in contact with.
